To All Sheep

It's the feast of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ. We commemorate the day when He returned to the Father---that day when He who has come down to us, ascended into heaven to the right hand of God. One day indeed, we will see Him return in the clouds. How glorious that day shall be!

We also remember his parting words to us---"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation"(Mark 16:15). It is the final command of one who is leaving. Jesus wants us to preach that salvation has come into the world. He wants us to lead everyone into the light, that all sheep may live in His love.

And we must not be afraid because He sends us the Holy Spirit---to strengthen us, to enlighten us, and to dwell in us as we continue our pilgrimage on earth. We may be sent as sheep among wolves, yet we should not be afraid, for indeed, Jesus has conquered the world.
