Luke 12:32-48

Have you time to sin? Have you time to give in (again) to that temptation you think you have already won over? It's worth asking because, who knows, there may not be time for yet another reform.

Our Gospel for today has Jesus telling us all to be vigilant and ready for the deadline, for "it will come on an unexpected day." We may have lived our lives with periods of sin, then reform, then sin again, and then reform again, and so on, thinking not that at some point, the cycle will have to stop. It will stop when it's time to say good bye to this world or when, yes, Christ returns.

Truly, "blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival." Lucky are you when that time comes and you are in a state of grace. But, shall we depend on luck when we can choose right now?

We are God's "little flock." Happy are we because Jesus said, "your Father is pleased to give you the Kingdom." However, "that servant who knew his master's will but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely."

The message is clear. Choose to be prepared for that unexpected day.
