Luke 4:1-13

How difficult was Jesus's situation. At the end of forty days of fasting, eating nothing, he must be not just hungry but rather famished. And it is at that time when the devil came to tempt Him. He faced temptations of sorts and as we know, He won over them all.

It makes one wonder: how is it that we fall to temptations when we are physically strong?

If we have a firm resolve not to sin, we should be able to conquer every temptation that comes to us daily. We who are spiritually weak are prey to the devil everyday. The devil realizes that with our faithlessness, it can easily make us trip. We must realize this and do our best to be more faithful. Let us pray that God bless us with needed graces and even for the grace to be able to allow these blessings to flourish in our lives.

If we love God, we should have a firm resolve not to sin. We hope to reach the point when the devil would leave us on ordinary days because it has finally realized that we would not fall so easily anymore on little things. It will now wait for extreme moments, such as moments of stress and poverty or even affluence and wealth. On these moments, may we still win over all temptations, just like Jesus.
